ATTRACTIONS
Anyone lucky enough to visit the Emerald Island will find plenty
to see and do. For a start, the impressive traditional settlements
in the villages of Theologos and Limenaria.
In Potamia,
the visitor can see the folk museum and the Byzantine churches of
Saint Nikolas and Saint Dimitrios. A visit to the island’s
capital is a wonderful chance to see the archeological museum and
the magnificent ancient Theatre of Limenas, that every summer houses
the Cultural Festival of Filippi.
Visitors can
enjoy delicious seafood and other specialties of the Mediterranean
cuisine, in the traditional Greek taverns. Those with a sweet tooth
must taste the famous honey of Thassos, homemade bagels, and the
traditional sweets, made with nuts, figs and honey.
The peace
and quite of the Emerald Island offers tired visitors a welcome,
